E tour and Travel

E tour and Travel We received a call from E tour and travel stating that we had won a 7 day vacation in Orland, a free rental car, free tickets to Universal Studios, and four days in Daytona Beach in a suite. As this was being sponsored by Universal studios, there would be no taxes. The "free trip" turned out to cost $498.00 for myself and my wife. I asked for the full name of the company, saying that I wanted to check them out on the Internet before I bought in. The salesman kept talking over me, telling me more about the great deal I had won, rather than answering my question. When I hung up on him, he called again, unperturbed, and kept avoiding my question. He finally stated that he worked for e tour and travel, and that he would give me full details about the company "after I had been registered", which I understood to mean, after I had paid for the deal. I was a bit concerned when he assured me that the $498.00 had been approved by visa. I stated very clearly " I do not want to purchase this travel deal and I do not authorize you to take money from my visa account". He kept talking over me, and I repeated at least thee times that I did not authorize a debit to my account. I hung up, and not surprisingly, he didn't call back. I phoned visa to make sure that there was no debit made while we were talking, and that I did not approve a debit for the company. After reading some of the complaints about this company, it turns out that it really was a deal that was too good to be true. I purchased a $400 package to Orlando last year and when I want to use the package this year, they told me that the package price went up and I need to pay another $400 to keep my account active and I can book the hotel stay. They tried to convince me over 30 minutes how illogical it would be for me to lose the $400 paid by simply not paying another $400. It would save me tons of money in travel expenses and so on. I was naive enough to pay the first time, not totally brain-dead to pay again. What a bunch of crooks!! They did credit me back but I still get harrassed all the time by them trying to sell me other packages at even lower prices. I have asked several times to be removed from their calling list and they still call anyways. I have changed my Visa number and everything because others on this site mentioned that they were recharged later on. I would advise anyone that deals with them to do the same. These guys are pure defrauders, sharks, imposters, schemers...cheats! The brochures offer you a great vacation. I believed what I saw in their pictures, so we went on one of their vacations to Ocean City, MD. By the way, we received the brochures AFTER the 15-day grace period. The hotel they put us in was a dump! Luckily we live nearby, so we returned home that same day. There was no way I was going to let my family spend the night in that pit. We took video & pictures of the place to prove our point. I sent a letter to the VP/COO in charge of complaints, Mr. Lance Croft. (I encourage everyone to send your complaints to him at E Tour & Travel, 3626 Quadrangle Blvd., Ste. 400, Orlando, FL 32817.) A representative called and said they would return only $100, because I still hadn't gone to the Florida vacations. What?! There's no way I'm traveling 900 miles to go to another dump. Oh! I also got another charge on my credit card from the hotel we went to in Ocean City -- even though we didn't spend the night. HELL NO, I'm not going to take their Florida vacation. They must've fallen and bumped their heads if they think I will trust them again. STAY AWAY FROM E TOUR & TRAVEL. IF THEY CALL YOU, JUST HANG UP! When they talked to me I reluctantly gave them my Visa and then when they gave me the small print details afterwards I decided that I wanted to cancel. They told me I could not cancel until I recieved my package in the mail. I recieved the package 17 days later and then immediately called to cancel and they told me I could not as the 15 day right of rescission was up. I am now in the process of disputing the charge with VISA. I had the same problem with the salesperson talking over me and not listening to a word I had to say. Even worse, Visa informs me that they should have cancelled immediately when I talked to them in the first place and backed out. Luckily I have everything but it would be great to get statements like this from more consumers who have been duped by these guys so that i can enclose them in my arguement.
