Wells Fargo Account Closure Fee

I moved to a state with no Wells Fargo physical banks. I called twice to ask what the best way would be for me to close my non-interest bearing checking account. Both times they told me to write a letter to their domestic collections and they would send me a check for the balance of my account. I sent the letter with the information they needed. I received in the mail a check for my account balance MINUS $5 bank fee.

I called to complain, and the Reno Nevada phone bank supervisor said the fee was in disclosure paperwork that I had; and that to avoid the fee for the check sent me, I should have withdrawn the funds then closed the account. I told her that would have been simple--however, the operators didn't tell me that option, nor did they say there would be a fee, or point me to the disclosure paperwork. In essence, they told me twice only enough information to ensure Wells Fargo would get another $5 from me. The supervisor then said there was no one else I could talk to about it, that I could send another letter to complain, or send a postcard (that would only cost me another 26 cents).

hi,i leased ahouse back in feb of08 ,2 days ago we had aman on the front yard want,s to change the lock on the house,we asked why?we found out that the house went on forclosure,and auction,but did not sale.he advice me to call wellsfargo for more details but i could not get hold of the right person ,just because i did not have aloan#.or they cant talk to me because the house is not under my name.so i called the landlord and i told him the situation ,he said he will call me back, now he won,t call me back. i called wells fargo they advice me to call the attorney general .i did,they told me to call the sheriff dept i did ,but i did not get any where.please i have 9 months old baby and i can,t have him on the street ,what do i need to do?please help
