Heartland America ripped me off on return postage for a defective product

Condre DVD/CD Master Machine, model # E9-22157 Heartland America 8085 Century Boulevard Chaska, MN 55318-3056 US www.heartlandamerica.com I returned a defective product to Heartland America on 8/30/2007. I had to pay $34.71 for the return postage. I called their customer service and was told to provide a receipt for the returned postage and they would reimburse me. I sent the requested information on 9/13/2007. I received a check for $13.00 today. I called customer service and spoke with a very RUDE supervisor who informed me that all they reimburse is $1.00 per pound. The item weighed 13 pounds. I think this is a total rip off and I told her I'd NEVER buy another thing from them. They are hard to deal with and their products are not as advertised. I purchased a TV from them years ago and had to return it because it didn't work. I don't recall having any problems with return shipping reimbursement back then. Their policy is that the customer is responsible for the initial postage and the return postage if an item is returned. I complained about that since the product was defective and I didn't feel I should be out nearly $60.00 for nothing. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I'm still waiting for my credit card statement to be sure they credited me back the full amount. If they try to pull a fast one and not reverse the charge I will dispue the charge with my credit card company.
