Taking Advatage of Seniors

Framed to Finish Remodeling Inc. 24435 W Kipling Ct Joliet, Il 60404 US I hired Mr. Ryan Kittler from Frame to Finish on 3-6-07 to remodel my kitchen. I gave him a check #1118 in the amount of $1000.00 to purchase supplies to get started on my floor, plywood & whatever was needed. I purchased the linolium from Menards.I gave him a check #1120 on 3-31-07 for $2000.00 for labor. He only used the plywood by the back door he said I didn't need it for the entire floor. My husband asked him about underlayment he said it wasn't necessary. He used a saw to cut the existing floor in the kitchen in front of the sink & cabinets to the back door. He said this would level the floor. We thought he was getting the proper size plywood or unerlayment to level everything out, however after he glued the linolium I told him I could see a large difference in height & ripples in the linolium He told me I was seeing things. He did finally try to level the floor by going in the basement cutting into the ceiling drywall & hammering the rafters to raise the floor causing my existing cabinets to loosen & shift & seperate from the wall, which I never gave him permission to cut my basement ceiling, causing my electric oven to go out of wack, I had to pay Sears $65.00 to come out and check it out. After putting the kitchen table back the table wobbles. He said it was due to our uneven floor. It was his job to make sure everything was level before putting down the linolium. There are noticeabe & uneven seems that look terrible,& something is pertruding through the linolium ready to break through.Under my dishwasher he put a thick coat of gray glue which will prevent it from coming out from under the counter if I wish to replace or ever need to repair it. He worked on my electric not closing off a outlet behind a cabinet that he installed. while working on the electric my furnance went out the repairman said it was due to what Mr Kittler was doing. It cost me $91.00 for the repairman I pluged in my toaster and sparks began to fly.I hired an electrican who found many serious fire code violations which Mr Kittler did. I paid the electrician a total of $235.00 Mr. Kittler installed a bottom cabinet & upper cabinets I had a oversized counter so I asked him to make the wall come out so the upper cabinets would not be so far back. He added a top making a soffit which I didn't want. The sides of the wall are not even with the cabinets. He put trim around three doors & a sliding door, it looks bad he never cut around the hinges just put it along the sides. He repaired the drywall ceiling that he closed off after taking the ceiling lights out,& another area in the ceiling I wanted fixed it looked terrible after he painted the ceiling & walls. Places were missed & he painted the walls without repairing the bad areas. He demanded $2,399.00 & told me it would be another $2,000. to $3,000 to finish. I told him I didn't have the money now, I was alone at home with my disabled husband and he refused to leave so I post dated the check for 4-10-07 and the next day I called my bank to stop payment that cost me $33.00. His pamphlet said all work guaranteed I feel because we are seniors he took advantage of us my husband is legally blind and he felt he could get away with things. My husband just had very serious major surgery and I was unable to contact you sooner, when we complained about his work he kept telling us not to worry that he would take care of everything, so we trusted that he would keep his word. We do have documentation of everything, receipts of paid repairs that Mr Kittler did due to faulty workmanship.I have a statement from my bank showing a STOP PAYMENT FOR $2399.00 which he somehow was able to cash. As to his claims I am trying to recover money I dont' have, my bank statement proves otherwise. In my previous statement of him putting glue under my dishwasher I was in error I thought it was glue due to the thick gray color. I wish to correct the fact that I said he didn't put any underlayment on the floor. We had 10 sheets of plywood delivered to us which Mr. Kittler said we didn't need and loaded it in the back of his truck and took with him when he left for the day. He did put the plywood by the back door and I believe one other small area. My son Jeff was present with Mr. Kittler throughout all his work except for the last day. My husband and I were NOT PRESENT while Mr. Kittler was working due to out health. My husband has enphasyma and due to his sawing in the kitchen with all the dust from his work, my husband went upstairs and I went in my bedroom and closed the door. Originally my counter and bottom and upper cabinets were to face north & south due to Mr. Kittlers suggestion of having them face east & west did give us more room so I decided to do it, however I had a oversized counter which was already made as I had before so he told me he could fix that by adding drywall backing to the back of the upper cabinets to bring them out correctly & the same for the bottom cabinets. Originally when we were going to have the upper cabinets facing noth & south I needed a soffit to hold the cabinets there was no back wall. He still built and enclosed the upper soffit wish I didn't need as I was going to have it match my other cabinet tops with a crown molding.I told him I wanted the soffit removed & he said he would fix it & it was his mistake. I hired a electrician to come & repair Mr. Kittlers hazzardous electrical work. The electrican removed part of the enclosed base cabinet to access the outlet that Mr. Kittler claims he covered(we took pictures before & after). I asked Mr. kittler to make sure that he enclosed & patched the upper wall that is behind the upper cabinets he didn't. I kept feeling a very bad cold draft in the kitchen so I asked my son to take down one of the upper cabinets to check it out. We were SHOCKED to find big holes and cut marks over 6 inches wide to where I could see the piping and frame work inside my home. (We documented this whole process with a camera)As to his claims that my husband approved everything in the basement that is not possible my husband is legally bind can hardly see in the daytime let alone in a dimly light basement, my husband is extremely hard of hearing since birth my husband wanted to know why he had to go into the basement he told us he could fix & level the kitchen floor where he cut the plywood making it unlevel however we never gave him permission to cut into our ceiling drywall which never was repaired. We have documentation from the heating company stating the reason for their visit was due to faulty work done by Mr. kittler. Mr Kittler's pamphlet doesn't state anything about electric work when asked about this he said it was a old pamphlet & it needs to be revised. We also kept asking him for the receipts of the material he purchased with the money I gave him for the materials & he eventually he refused to give them to me at the last day he was here. We won a judgement against Ryan Kittler owner Of Framed to Finish Remodeling Inc. We wish for everyone to be aware of his business practices. He told the Judge he was worth $50.00 and hour and thats why we were being overcharged nearly $4,000.00 compared to estimates from 3 other contractors.
