T-mobile charges $200 early termination fee after saying there would be no fee

T-mobile US I was charged a $200 early contract termination fee when I was previously told by 2 different representatives that I would not be breaking my contract when I canceled service. I made sure of this before I went ahead and canceled. Now when I go to contest this I am told there were no "notes" left by the representative that they told me I had no fee to pay, so therefore there is nothing they can do for me. They make it impossible to find out when your contract does expire on your own so you are forced to ask a representative. At that point it is their word against yours. So what can I do?
