Poor Quality Construction

Contractor Decathlon Construction 5555 E. Mockingbird Lane#3402 Dallas, tx 75206 US www.decathlonconstruction.com I should have known better after I had to contact the contractor numerous times for an appointment to explain what we wanted. He showed us pictures of his work and gave us estimates. The second time we called b/c we had changed our plans and it took forever to get answers from him. The third time around to set an appointment with the contractor, he called and changed his time, we rescheduled and when he finally came to the house to go over the changes to the plans and he became very annoyed and irritated at our changes. We got a price and date to start construction. It only took 2 and a half days to finish the project. He did some sloppy work. The construction he did on our home was not like any of his pictures. He didn't finish any trim work. The plywood he used on the patio was too thin for roofing nails after he told the roofer that the nails would not go through the patio. He never pulled a building permit with the city, caused damage to my pool b/c he was too lazy to cover the swimming pool. Framing nails were dropped and left in the pool causing it to leave rust spots in the pool. He clogged the pool filter with sawdust. He refuses to pay for repair to the pool damage. He did not clean up after he finished, left cigarette butt all over my backyard. I got opinion from another contractor on the work that was done and he said he would never have this contractor build anything for him. Cedar beams shouldn't have been put on the concrete pool decking there are possibilities of cracking b/c of that. He should have cut the concrete and installed cedar post into ground. Also nails were used instead of screw or bolts to tie the beams together another sign of his cheap construction and sloppy work. I tried to solve this problem civilly and he claims I have a vendetta against his company. I am only trying to get the patio cover built like it should have been, like the pictures he showed us and get my pool repaired that was damaged due to his negligence. He never came by to see the finished job only his framers were on site. I am now seeking legal help with this issue¦ beware of this patio builder¦decathlon construction his pictures are deceiving. My name is Jerry Terry, and I am the owner of this company. 1) We have hundreds of positive references which I would be happy to provide for you, and one negative (see above). 2) I gave this customer THREE free site visits, and they drastically changed the design several times before finally deciding on the most watered down and cheap product that I will build. 3) The product looks great! You will notice he has not posted pictures, and if he did they would be close ups 2 inches from the lumber that anyone can make to look bad. 4) This customer tried to Illegally STEAL this patio cover by telling the credit card company that we never built the project!!!! They even whited out their name on the contract, unbelievable. 5) There was 2 nails in the pool that we pointed out to the customer, and he said "we will take care of it". Then we left the job site, and the customer tried to get us to pay to replaster his pool! 6) I have decided against a Libel lawsuit because it is not worth it. We are the best company in the metroplex hands down, and as I said I will provide you with hundreds of references upon request. I also have decided not to press charges of their attempted theft of this patio cover. The credit card company was VERY appologitic to me when they realized the product was built onto their house, and gave me the steps I could take, which I will if I see further Libel. This customer is a fanatic. They tried to get the "extras" for free and were denied, thus this complaint. Dont believe everything you read on the internet, especially when it has poor grammar and no paragraphs.
