Discover Card

Discover Card

I paid my total bill to Disover Card on Dec.8. For some reason it did not go through and I was not aware of it. On Dec. 15 someone called and asked me about it and I was shocked. While the woman was on the phone I paid the bill again and it showed up in my account. In the meantime I received a hefty finance charge.

I called Discover and asked that the finance charge be dropped. I have always paid my bills on time and have honored my end of the contract hence, I expected them to honor me as a loyal customer. Instead I was rebuffed by Cory who said he ws the manager (#16147) i the Ohio customer service office.

I started the conversation with him in a friendly way explaining my conversation with the woman Dec. 15. He countered with "well, we didn't get your payment". So I explain that I keep very tidy records of what I pay and that I was certain I had paid as I was leaving town. He continued with the fact that he didn't receive payuent. I did not disagree but asked if my word was not good enough given that I am never late with the full payment of my bill. He again said they had not received payment. So I asked him if I was not a valuable customer who deserved some understanding on this issue. I wasn't merely late... I had paid but for some reason the computer did not do it's job. He came back with "What if every customer said that?"

Well, it boiled down to the fact that Discover doesn't care if I am a good paying customer or not they want their finance charge. I will pay it because I am an honorable person but I am closing my Discover Card account. I don't need them. There are credit card companies out there that do value customers. My Mastercard company is one and so is my American Express company.
