home phone O.K. get a load of this!!!!! About 8 weeks ago Roger’s offered me a sweet deal to try their home phone in combination with their cable which I already had. I didn’t really have a problem with Bell except a party. I gotta explain this one first. I’m on the phone talking to a friend and all of a sudden a party line comes on. It was a very personal conversation about an incurable problem with a child. My friend and I both start to yell into the phone to let them know that we can hear them. We could hear them but they couldn’t hear us. We decided we would hang up because their conversation was so personal. But all of a sudden I said to my friend, “you know something, I think I recognize one of the voices.” My friend was shocked at this news, we both hung up. I sat and thought about it and then I knew who I thought it was, somebody in my building. I don’t actually know this person except to say hi in passing. I decided to go to her door and see if it was her. She opened the door and said hi, can I do something for you. I explained that this may not please her very much but here goes. I explained the story and started to repeat what we had heard on the party line. I thought she was going to faint. I explained to here that even though that should never have happened and could be very dangerous in some circumstances but it just so happens that my friend that I was talking to at the time has a child with the same illness and we talked about the illness. She was not happy but we compared notes and I told her I’d bring my friend over the next time and they could maybe get together and they just might be able to teach each other something. NOT A GOOD THING BELL! Especially with identity theft on the rise. Any way back to my complaint. So I went over to Roger’s and the first week was hell. They cut of my sons simpatico and it was down for a week. My phone was not working and I’d had about 7 service calls in the first week. Anyway they made me a really great offer on my account for 6 months and an added discount for the length of my account. Things were working O.K. Then I get a card in the mail from Bell wanting me to come back to them. Then I received a phone call asking me to come back and they had a deal to offer. They had lowered their prices and I would get a $125.00 credit on my account. It wasn’t as good a deal as Roger’s but Roger’s deal was only for six months except for the extra discount and then the monthly phone charges would be about $9.00 more than Bell. I discussed it with my son and I said I kind of like having only one provider. We have Sympatico and a cell phone with Bell and maybe we should go back to Bell because in six months time Bell would be the better deal . We agreed to go back to Bell. GREAT! NOT! The service guy comes over to connect the line and he asked if our Sympatico was on the phone line to which we said no. He suggested that we call a number that he gave us if were interested and ask them to put us on the phone line and not a dry loop. I asked how long the internet would be down because it is crucial for my son’s work that he use it daily. The guy said it’ll be done by Monday, this was a Friday. My son said O.K., he was going to be away for the weekend anyway. The service guy was really nice and expressed his desire to give Bell customers the best service he could and that this would save me a few bucks. Great! We were without Sympatico for a week and I didn’t realize but our inter calm system had been disabled. My boyfriend had mentioned that when he comes over I never answer the phone to let him in and he has to sit around sometimes for 20 minutes or more for somebody to let him in. I didn’t really pay much attention. Then I kept getting messages left to go to the post office to pick up mail. Every time I complained that I was home and they should have brought it to the door for me to sign. She gave me a number to call and complain. I started to call and then my friend said maybe you don’t answer the buzzer for the mail person either. We checked it out. The connection had been disable by Bell for that also. I called and explained the situation to the service people and they said it was the building managers problem. I asked how that could be when Bell disabled it. The building manager was getting ticked off because it had nothing to do with him and every time I called Bell I’d have to explain it again and then that person would transfer me to another and another and each time I’d have to explain it all over again. This went on every day and I was getting really ticked of. Each time I spoke with somebody I would ask to speak to a manager and/or supervisor that was not allowed either. Ever since this past Monday not only is my buzzer not hooked up but my phone service has been cut off. GREAT SERVICE BELL!!!!!! People keep asking me why I switched to Roger’s, I couldn’t give any reason against Bell so I just said it was a pricing issue, which actually was the trueth and haven’t told them that I went back to Bell but now I have something to tell them.
