TriStar Vacuum Cleaner and Air Filtration System

TriStar Vacuum Cleaner and Air Filtration System My husband and I were watching a video when we heard a knock on the door. When my husband answered it there were two young men standing there holding a cheap welcome mat. The men were not dressed professionally and actually looked a little scary. They actually reminded us of carnies or gypsies. They said they were going door to door giving away these welcome mats, telling people about and trying to get people excited about a new store they were opening in our area. They asked if they could show us something, that it would take just 5 minutes. We agreed and told them we were in the middle of watching a movie, but since it will only take a few minutes that it would be OK. Next thing we know, they drag this large cardboard box into our house and one of them leaves the other salesman behind to do a high pressure sales presentation for this compact vacuum cleaner that he kept insisting was not a vacuum cleaner, but an air filtration system. They went through about 30 filter sheets that they spread out all over the floor trying to show us how dirty our house was. They even went so far as to take our baking soda and dumped it on the carpet, sucked it up with our vacuum and then their vacuum to show how much our vacuum missed. I was getting a little annoyed with the filthy filter sheets all over the floor so I stacked them in one pile. Then the salesman said, don't stack them, my manager has to count them. I replied well, he can count them in a stack, it would be easier to count them in a stack anyway. When his manager came back he spread the filter sheets out all over the floor again. Finally we asked how much and are told it's $2800. We told the salesman that was left behind, no and he tells us there are all these different payment plans. We still told them no, that we didn't have any money in the budget for this right now, but could we get a business card. We asked several times for a business card and were never given one. The salesman that was left behind called the other one and told them we didn't want the vacuum. So he comes back and lowers the price four times, but it was still out of our price range. The final offer was $500 which seems crazy that they would take that much from the original offer of $2800. Then they started their stalling tactics, taking forever to clean off the parts and pack them away. At last they asked for a glass of water, but we said, no, we'll give you a bottled water so you can be on your way. They just wouldn't leave! We kept telling them no and that we wanted to get back to our movie and that we didn't have any money, but somehow they spent 20 minutes cleaning the bristles on the attachment alone. Throughout the presentation they kept insulting us and trying to belittle us, but we just wanted them gone. We were seriously considering calling the police when they finally left. We've never had such a terrible experience with a single company. We asked them where was this store opening, it wasn't even close to us. When we looked on the Internet, sure enough there a many complaints from others that went through a similar experience with the sales people and many complaints from people who actually purchased the vacuum at various prices.
