Sears Service department Citrus Heights/Sacramento, CA I called sears to do maintenance on my washer, dryer, and air conditioner/heater. 1 month later when the cold started, we went to use our heater…. It didn’t work. We called sears to fix it thinking that since they just recently did the maintenance, they would come out for free. They came out alright and told us that one part in the relay didn’t work and they had to order it. That was after 2 hours of the guy being on the phone. 2 weeks later the second guy came out and was on the phone for over two hours and said the transformer was shot and it would cost us $300. The frist guy didn’t say that. We called sears to complain and they sent a third guy out their who said that someone “Fried” the system (get to that later) and we did indeed have to repair the relay and transformer. We grudgingly agreed and paid. By the way, during the time the first guy came out, and the third guy, we got our gas bill. It was record high!!!! We didn’t use it!! We called the gas company after the third guy left and the only thing he noticed wrong was that someone deactivated the safety switch on our heater. UGH!! Well the heater did work after the third guy, after paying for maintenance, and being without heat for over a month. We thought that was it and we would NEVER buy another Sears product again, let alone use their service. Then the hot weather came….. The AC didn’t work. This time we called a reputable but expensive local contractor. He again replaced the relay, the thermostat, and the contractor and funny enough… mentioned that someone “fried” the system, and showed us how all the wiring was “srewed up, someone didn’t know what they were doing”. That was before I told him the story that I was so sick of telling. He said more than likely, the person who did maintenance messed up the wiring, and the three people who came afterwards were too inexperienced to notice. I kept all my financials since 1998 and we have spent THOUSANDS of dollars on Sears tools, several TV’s (which service was much better because the big screens went out a lot), camcorders, Sony Home Stereo, lawn mowers, washer and dryer, refrigerator, and a gas stove. We would’ve continued to spend that money on future items. Never again will ever step foot in a Sears store.
