Dynasty Jade Range serviced by A & E My Dynasty Jade Gas Range was having small explosions during baking obviously due to a faulty igniter valve. A & E is the service provider for Maytag which owns Dynasty. I called them 2/13/07 for warrantied service and the tech came and told me that "this was how the Dynasty oven works and recommended that I bake with the door open". He left refusing to look at the warped and blackened oven floor as evidence of the overly intense heat. I called for service again 4/30/07 because the explosions had been getting scarier. A different tech came again on 5/9/07 and told me that I did not know how to bake. He told me that my blackened oven floor was "dirt" and that was the cause of the explosion. I told him to remove the oven floor and look at the heat diffuser on the bottom which had come loose from the oven bottom. This was evidence of an explosion which is not a normal part of baking. He told me that it was normal for the oven bottom to melt and warp. I told him that the igniter was faulty and showed him that the burner was not heating evenly and that gas was building up. He told me it was fine. When I asked him if he had ever serviced a Dynasty Range he said "no". I asked him how long he had been on this job and he said "three days". I honestly doubt that this tech is qualified or trained to service gas appliances. I removed my oven floor and emailed Jade's service dept. digital photos of my igniter, burner, diffuser and oven bottom. They told me that it was obvious that the igniter valve had malfunctioned and that this was a dangerous situation that could cause an explosion and fire. Jade is sending me a new igniter, diffuser and oven bottom as these parts are still under warranty. I have to call A & E to put it in as they are Maytag's service provider. It is appalling that A & E would send 2 different techs out to service a gas appliance who obviously know nothing about gas burners. The consequences of their negligence, had I not contacted Jade directly could have been tragic for my family.
