Direct Buy - Bothell Washington

Direct Buy - Bothell Washington

My parents recently joined Direct Buy, they live in Alaska and they thought that they would save money by purchasing products from them for their house.

They purchased a dishwasher for over $700 that they could have bought directly from Sears at a lower cost. When we picked up the dishwasher the box had been slashed open on two sides of the box. They told us that it was opened so they could see if the correct product was shipped. They loaded the dishwasher into the back of my van. I then brought it to a freight company were they placed the dishwasher on a pallet and then sealed it right in front of me.

Once my parents received it and unpacked it they noticed that the front of the dishwasher had a large gash in it, this gash was in the exact area in which Direct Buy had slashed open the box “to check” the merchandise. They also discovered that the dishwasher door would not open because the hinging system was damaged. When my parents contacted Direct Buy they were told that we caused the damage and that they would do nothing. My parents have contacted VISA regarding this, which has recommended that they return the product to Direct Buy; Direct Buy now says they will split the cost of repair. They should be in all right replacing it according to VISA.

Currently the dishwasher is being shipped down from Alaska (which is costing my parents another couple hundred dollars) We will be returning it directly to Direct Buy, but they do not want to deal with myself or my sister.

In short, Direct Buy is an unprofessional merchant. Customer service is not existent.

I was a member of the Direct Buy in Spokane, Washington for three years, and had a similar bad experience.Damaged goods, no service, and most prices were no better and often significantly more than local retail stores.

Everything a member orders here through DirectBuy is professionally opened and inspected to ensure it is in perfect condition, and exactly what the member ordered. This complaint regarding The dishwasher left DirectBuy in Bothell, WA in perfect condition. In fact, this complainant, who is not a member of DirectBuy, signed off that the dishwasher was exactly what her parents ordered, and that it was without any defects. Somehow, in the thousands of miles, between Bothell, WA, and Alaska, where her parents lived, the dishwasher arrived damaged. Even though DirectBuy in no way did anything wrong, we agreed to cover a portion of the damage, along with the freight company and the dishwasher manufacturer. This complaint was resolved in an expeditious manner and to the members' complete satisfaction. The member ordered several appliances, more than this one dishwasher, and had no issues with any of the other appliances in the same order. But of course there is no mention of the true outcome to this complaint; nor is the complainant responsible enough or interested enough to do so. Had we known that this online complaint was here, we would have immediately responded to it when posted, as it is now 2009. We are a local company that supports 25+ employees; we do what we say we do; and we stand behind what we do.
