RE: computer service? On January 8, 2003 I purchased a laptop computer from Sam's Club. It had a one year factory warranty and I paid extra for an additional three years extended service plan for a total of four years service. During this time the computer was service under the extended warranty without problem. On December 16, 2003 I paid $290 to extend the service plan for another three years with a new expiration date of January 7, 2010. I was given a new plan expiration date and new service contract number. On March 28, 2007 I requested service under the new contract with the expiration date of 2010. I was told the contract was on record but "had not been activated," after three and a half months. I spoke with customer service agent from Sam's Club who said that "it would take time to activate" the service contract. It has been three and a half months since the extended service plan was paid for and I am being refused service because of some bureaucratic mixup. I can be given no assurance when or even if the computer will ever be serviced, in spite of my payment and acknowledgment of the new service contract being on file. I have been repeatedly told that "it takes time to process the paperwork," but three and a half months is ridiculous. We will never make another purchase from Sam's Club or its parent company Wal-Mart if the purchase involves warranty service.
