Home Depot - Installation of Dishwasher

Home Depot - Installation of Dishwasher

I purchased a dishwasher at Home Depot at 5101 Jonestown Road in Harrisburg, PA.

The contractors they hire are sub-standard! The contractor came to my home to install the dishwasher with a helper. The helper helped bring the dishwasher in to my home and then went out and sat in the truck. I just had a new ceramic tile floor installed in my kitchen and he could not get the dishwasher out so my husband had to break out two tiles in front of the dishwasher so that the contractor could remove the old dishwasher. He removed the old dishwasher and when he was putting the new dishwasher in he broke two pieces off of the edge of my countertop. He told my husband he was sorry he damaged our countertop! When my husband asked him to sign something stating he had done the damage he refused. He also refused to show my husband his insurance or anything. Immediately after he left my husband contacted the Home Depot store who told him he must file the complaint with the contractor’s company which we did. After completing much paperwork and making numerous calls (they never called back) I was referred to Electric Insurance Company (I’m not sure where they fit into the problem, they may be Home Depot’s insurance company). Again, I made numerous calls and they sent me new paperwork to complete including an affidavit that I needed notarized, they requested pictures of the damage and estimates. I contacted them and said it was not in my place to have to do the leg work for damage that was made by a Home Depot contractor. I had just purchased my home and it is 8 years old. I contacted the original contractor and have found out that they countertop has been discontinued, therefore it cannot be repaired. Electric Insurance Company advised me the contractor’s company had denied my claim. When I asked if I could see the information as to why my claim was denied I was told they didn’t think they could provide me with it.

Frustrated completely by now I contacted Home Depot via their website and gave them all the information. They sent me a few emails saying how important I was and that customer service is very important to them. They said they had referred it to their escalation group to handle.

Bottom Line – We received a call back from them saying that they would not do anything about this, our problem is with the contractor.

What happened to “We Do Professional Installations”?????

We also went to the store where we purchased the dishwasher and were given no satisfaction.

I have now contacted an attorney and they are handling it for me.

As far as I am concerned, I would rather shop at Lowes than give Home Depot any more of my business!!!!
