2002 Ford Taurus Front Coil Spring

On March 26, 2007, my 2002 Ford Taurus had the driver's spring front coil spring suddenly break when backing out of the garage (only moved a few inches), puncturing the tire and breaking the sway bar link. On the web I see several exact same complaints. While a Ford recall (04S17) addresses this problem, it only covers through the 2001 model year. Given the continued occurrences, it appears that the 2002 model year is not immune from the problem.
