Christopher Doherty's $500 moving service on Mar.1st 2007 company (greater Boston area) Moving Services / Transport / Labor, etc. EST 2000 MicroMove division (also available from this "company") Owner: Christopher Doherty As I told him when he left, I'm not gonna write anything bad about him, but only the truth. If you don't have time to read it through, here is the abstract: We made a quick deal on $500 moving service from Boston to North NJ. ‘Everything in the world is included” were his words. He said that 3 times before I saw him. He was all in all 6 hours late. He kept me and my personal belongings standing outside for 5 hours. I was completely frozen. I called him hunderds of times. I was stupid enough to hire him and to pre-pay $250 to him. He FORCED me to pre-pay him the other $250 after my things were loaded in the truck and I was on board with him in the truck. This made me cry. Rather than bringing another professional mover, he brought his date on the trip. I had to call 2 friends with the unloading part in the midnight and in the heavy rain. The later was avoidable if we were late just less than 3 hours. This is not a big deal, I mention it now is because it was avoidable if he put them stand there properly. My PC-table was broken; the wheels of the TV stand and night stand were broken. One of the mattress cover was broken. And last but not the least, everything is dirty and half wet.
Whole story: Feb. 24th; I called around for moving service from Boston to NJ Harrison. He seemed nice and offered a reasonable low price to me. Even he asked me to prepay him half of the money right away, I didn't feel too uncomfortable. Feb. 27th; I happened to see a complaining post on www. complaint.com, which complaint that he was never show up on a pre-paid delivery service and he was rude to that clint. It freaked me out a bit. I called him again to comfirm my moving time and asked his explaination on that complaint.. I already paid him, so I decided to trust him. Mar.1st, before loading; He called around 9am, which made me happy by the way, to confirm that he would show up between 11-11:30am. And yes, someone did show up during this time. It was Paul B.. Christopher hired him to move my things down to the lobby for loading. Paul was on time and nice and quick. Everything was in the lobby by 12:10. Shortly after, we were kicked out the building by the security officers according to the American law. No one would know it was the beginning of the disaster. We were both standing outside calling and waiting for Christopher, the later promised to show up in 30 -45mins again and again and again and again until around 5pm with his ¾ fully loaded big truck. Paul did all the loading. I tipped him and got on to the truck. Mar. 1st, after loading; I was sitting in the truck with Christopher's date instead of another mover. Christopher had to pay Paul before leaving. Paul wasn't happy with him because of waiting for the whole day… Then Christopher asked me for the other $250, which I told him to pay when we arrived in NJ before I hopped on the truck. I said I did not trust him, I could not pay him now. But he refused to drive!! With everything of mine in the truck, with my fixed schedule on the following day, I really needed to move to NJ asap. I didn't know how to deal with this kind people. He successfully FORCED me to pre-pay him all the money. He made me cry for half an hour. Mar. 1st, on the road; Both he and his gf were not bad to me on the way to NJ because I was crying. He was not rude to me as he always talked nicely without meaning it. He did think he did not deserve any tip. And what made me even madder was that the girl told me: he did not have too much to do rather than keep calling people before he left on the way to me. He might just enjoy making the other people waiting to death for him! The girl even told me because he always had difficulties to keep his words or his schedule, some people always thought they were coned by him. However, he stopped 5 times on the road. 1, he dropped some mattresses somewhere north of Boston, even we were supposed to come down south to NJ. 2, we went somewhere around Masspike at 6:30pm to fill the tank. 3, his gf asked for junk food. 4, He had to take some pills... 5, stopped again, I had no idea for what. He was on the phone talking for most of the 6 hours. We were almost hit by another oil-tank truck somewhere on the way. Very badly, it started to rain around 9pm.. Mar 2nd, 0:12am; We finally arrived. When we finished unloading it was 1am. There’s no way he could unload my mattress and everything by himself. I called 2 friends to help the unloading in the heavy rain……… You have no idea how exhausted I was. I finally went to bed around 3am. And I had 2 important appointments in the same morning. It was the worst experience I ever bad in this country.I was speechless for a long while afterwards. I just do not know how to deal with bad business people. I do not know how to ask for refund or what to do.. But, here is the whole thing, at least it can warn the other people.
