2003 ford taurus coil spring breaking

2003 ford taurus coil spring breaking

Last night the driver side coil spring on my 2003 Ford Taurus broke.

Fortunately it was parked at the time when it let go. In the process of breaking it

took out the tire and sway bar. I will not be reimbursed for the repair

according to my dealership since the car it out of warranty (85,000 miles) and do

not know what recourse I have in registering a complaint.

The bottomline is that this is an extremely dangerous condition to the driver

and more people should be aware of it.

Barb

On Mon 12/15/08 the coil spring on my 2003 Ford Taurus snapped and took out my 2nd season snow tire. I thought I ran over a moose the way the car bounced up then dropped. Since there was some tread wear on my snow tires I had to buy 2 new ones. Couldn't get the ones we wanted as most tires are out of stock due to the new Canadian

snowtire law. (I'm in Vt)

Of course my warranty ended this past July. I do expect things to wear down over the years, but not something like this that could have caused a bad accident. I don't appreciate paying $800 for the same problem that was recalled on the 2001 Taurus', but overlooked on the 02's and 03's?? It appears that the same exact item is being used on all three years so why recalled on just the 01's?

I don't consider this to be general wear and tear at all. I'm sure that when someone dies then it will be addressed.
