Harris Bank and other Banks ripping off their customers

Harris Bank and other Banks ripping off their customers My problem starts with getting a debit card, which I did ask for only to have it spit me money or allow me to make debit purchases at the store without the money being in the account. Then the SO CALLED bank sends me an overdraft notice saying as a courtesy that they paid the debit yet charge me 32.00 !!!!! That is a joke !!! My debit purchase could be as low as 5.00 yet they charge 32.00 to cover it. NEVER was I explained that a cash station or debit card will spit you money or allow the transaction to go through with no funds available. I have in banking for 23 years although now I am out of it, and the purpose to having debit cards is for convenience. If the money is not in your account, the transaction should be declined right at the register. PERIOD !!!!! My step daughter who used her debit card for a 2.79 box of milk duds at an Aldi's store. Turns out the money wasn't in her account yet she got this box of candy and an overdraft fee of 25.00. So now, this box of candy cost her 28.00 This is absolutely insane. These banks are making mucho dollars just in fees with their customers. This should be investigated and I will keep on complaining and writing to Governmental Agencies about having this practice stopped. I will pay a fee for an nsf check, but I will NOT pay any fees for debit purchases that NEVER should of WENT THROUGH in the FIRST PLACE !!!!!!!!!! And believe me, if the new accounts rep. explained that to me when I got this debit card, I would of flat out refused one. I will not have to check my balance each and every time I plan to use a debit card. That's the point of having one. I was charged 32.00 for a supposedly 1.00 debit. I have never wrote a check in my life for a 1.00 let alone use a debit card for a dollar. I refuse to pay this bank back for all the p.o.s. fees I have incurred. I can see a whole new generation of young kids who don't keep track of their checking accounts getting sucked deeper and deeper in debt, and these banks who are supposed to save for you, are milking you dry. I am not DONE fighting this battle. Alanna Woolums

It's as simple as that. From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Thursday, 11-Jun-09 19:33:51 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This Comment On ThisI agree!
