Bank of America

Bank of America

I have a credit card account with Bank of America. Was originally MBNA and

became Bank of America through merger. I have never missed a payment never

had a problem until this month. I went on line to check my statement and

found that they increase my interest rate to more than double what it was. I

called Bank of America to discuss the problem and they informed me that the

rate I had been to low and that they were raising it. I explained at this

point that I should be able to close the account then and pay off the card

at the rate I had always had. I understand that I would not be able to use

the card anymore but I could not see increasing my rate by double and

keeping the card. I was explained that they sent me a notice in March and

they would not allow me to have the lower rate because it was to late. I

explained that I did my banking on line, received their statement on line

and did not receive the notice of the change. I was sure at that point the

representative would help me but I could not have been more wrong. I tried

to express my concern with the representative of the Bank and explained my

situation, father of three currently looking for employment and what a

financial hardship increasing my monthly payments by over $170 a month would

cause. The person on the other end could not have been colder or less

concerned with my plight. I pleaded, "So because I didn't get a note you

stated was sent less than 2 months ago you will not help a loyal customer. I

asked to speak with a supervisor and was told very sternly "I am an

executive in the credit department". At this point I thanked her for her

time and ended our conversation. I have tried sending information through

the web site to explain my issue hoping to reach someone with a heart and

understanding.

. The response I received from them was as follows:

“Thank you for contacting Bank of America. We would be delighted to

assist you with your APR inquiry.
