Dear Sears:
We have installed Kenmore appliances in each of our four homes, spanning almost thirty years, due to the service and reputation for these products.
On June 25, 2007, we had a service call to our home due to problems with the refrigerator not operating properly . the problem was a condenser motor fan. We were presented with an estimate of $317.71 for the repair which necessitated our having to decide whether or not to replace this refrigerator which was just seven years old. Replacement of this refrigerator would not reflect well on the quality of Kenmore appliances.
We elected to have the repair completed in lieu of replacing the entire refrigerator; however, it was not until late that evening that I was able to examine the repair invoice. The invoice consists of $123.73 for parts and $193.98 for labor. I have no difficult with the price of the parts but do find the labor charges to be excessive.
Your technician was in our home for no more than 45 minutes. That would calculate to an hourly rate for service of $258.64 per hour. We trust that you might agree that this is an excessive cost for appliance repair service. While we realize that the service charge was predetermined for the actual labor task performed . we feel that you may want to adjust this rate . at least for units as simple as our refrigerator.
We feel that some form of credit on this service should be provided to our account and would like to know your opinion.
