Shell Gas Station: 1425 Jungs Station Road, St. Peters MO 63303 Shell Gas Station: 1425 Jungs Station Road, St. Peters MO 63303 Questionable Practice: ACTION2: This morning my two daughters and two cousins walked up to the corner Shell gas/convenience store located at 1425 Jungs Station Road in St. Peters, MO to get a gallon of milk. They were told that only two of them could enter the store at a time, so two went in the store and two waited outside until the purchase was complete. Upon returning home I was told of the incident and was shocked and angered by such a ridiculous occurrence. I returned the milk to the gas station for a refund and inquired as to who told my children that only 2 were allowed in the store at a time. The three workers did not say who told the girls that they couldn't all enter at the same time. I told them it felt like a racist (African American Customers) incident. One of the workers laughed and they indicated that was the rule for everyone due to kids coming in and stealing from Barnwell Middle School. The workers and one of the customers in the store indicated that it was a common practice among the merchants in the area. The customer indicated that on school days there are hoards of kids and they are hard to control and watch. (I have lived in the area almost 8 years and I have never allowed my children to walk to DQ or the Shell Gas Store after school or a half day because I understand that businesses are not babysitters). I reminded the workers that school was not in session, we were not talking about a large group of kids, only four. It was early Sunday morning before 11:00. I also, told the workers and the customer in the store that there was not a policy posted in the window. It is impossible for parents to know that a policy exists if it isn’t in plan view if their children don’t normally frequent stores alone.
Now, I was most certainly angry…but, the workers (with the exception of the older woman) were totally unprofessional and disrespectful in their tone and comments. Customer Service was a zero and their policy is very questionable.
