US Bank, Milwaukee, WI

=20

US Bank represents itself in the local Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance

Program offices. They sit in the waiting area and lure customers with a

"Second Chance Checking" offer. This offer allows any potential =

customer,

regardless of any previous adverse bank history, to open a new checking

account, no questions asked. At first, one might think how generous and

kind this bank is to do this. Instead, US Bank exercises it's own very

strict and complicated fee policies and procedures to literally screw =

these

already economically depressed people out of even more money.

When an individual's debits exceed his or her account balance, US Bank

attempts to pay the highest-valued debits first. When a customer is =

cutting

it close, which invariably the poor are doing regularly, the highest =

valued

debit, combined with the Overdraft charge assessed, puts the account =

into

negative, and every subsequent debit will be NSF, with an Overdraft fee

assessed for each of those. So for example, if the account has 50 =

dollars

available balance, and two debits come in, one for 55 dollars, and one =

for 5

dollars, US Bank will register the 55 dollar debit first, so it will be =

NSF

and thus net US Bank an overdraft fee, plus the 5 dollar debit will then =

be

NSF, and they will charge another overdraft fee. Whereas, if they would

have paid the 5 dollar debit first, it would not have registered NSF, =

and

only the 55 dollar debit would have been NSF. -But then US Bank would =

only

make $35 off a customer's clerical error, instead of $70. So they =

double

their money and even more.

This is a classic case of stealing from the poor and downtrodden to fund =

the

rich. It is no wonder why the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.

The rich feed off the misfortunes of the impoverished.
