I am writing to complain about a recent situation regarding the company below:

My wife and I entered their office to receive an estimate on pea gravel to cover an area of our yard. We had given specific, accurate dimensions of the area we intended to cover. The estimate was performed incorrectly and the company had delivered far too much pea gravel on to our driveway.

The company refused to correct the mistake and stated that they would not make any effort to pick up the gravel. They did agree after much haggling, that they would agree to take back the gravel if I returned it to them. The amount of gravel in question requires a dumptruck for delivery. They had carelessly put my wife and I in an unfortunate situation. I was forced to return the gravel in my own personal, mid-sized truck, which turned out to be a total of 11 trips to return the full amount, and a full day of my time and effort. This is no way to treat a customer.

When speaking to the owner, he made no effort to apologize for their error, and instead regarded this issue as a he-said/she-said dispute between myself and his employee. More importantly, his employee had completely failed to document the amount of gravel in the receipt, and the owner would still not retract his argument.

This company had the opportunity to make good on an error, and had completely failed. I would urge any homeowner or landscaper… DO NOT do business with Valley Landscape Center.
