United Health Care
|
United Health Care I have United Health Care. I pay $400. a month. About 11 weeks ago, I was sent to a pain control doctor, who thinks I have a ruptured disc. UHC says it's my responsiblity to pay a $2500. deductible toward the MRI, the hospital charges $2700. I am unable to walk now, and the doctore suggested I go to the ER for a shot, presumably cortisone, I called for prior authorization. The nurse said she can only advise, not authorize treatment. I asked who could. She told me that I had to call during regular business hours for authorization. She did recommend to go to the ER, my copay is $200. and if they don't authorize, which is likely, based on the other complaints I've heard, it could cost $1000.'s. So I still can't walk.

They mark you account as you being a 'flagged' trouble-maker and then hang up again so you have to go back through that insipid and uselss computer screening where the rep asks the same questions all over again. By the time they get a rep on the phone, you have wasted 3-5 mins and you are already agitated. They charge enourmous amounts of money, want you to pay a large co-pay or deductible and the dr offices want you to pay in lump sum. I don't want a credit card to please them....I can hardly walk...their dental service is even worse.
