CIC (ConsumerInfo)

This is an account of my experience with CIC (consumerInfoDOTcom; Consumer Credit Report) that I share to help all others stop this fraud.

I recently noticed two unauthorized charges on my credit card made by CIC*Triple Advantage for $12.95 each. My wife checked out freecreditreportDOTcom after receiving a solicitation by mail. However, she didn't request the "free" report and never received one. I called my credit card, Bank of America and after talking to about 4 reps I finally reached good help at (800) 457-3693. They set up a 3-way conference call with Mark at CIC to take care of the situation. Mark asked for my social security number. No way I'm giving that to him, and the BoA rep reminds me that she's on the line as if to say that I'm safe, so I remind her that I've already been burned once by this company. Mark was willing to settle for the credit card number and said we signed up for the service, which wasn't true. I demanded that he cancel the subscription and refund my money to which he said he will comply. The BoA rep asked for a confirmation number and said that this will be refunded within 10 days. We'll see. Interestingly, after Mark hung up, the BoA rep said they've been dealing with a lot of these CIC fraudulent charges and that it's a good thing I caught it right away. I read the hundreds of complaints about these crooks, but didn't see much as far as solutions so I offer my testimony as motivation to my fellow victims. Call your credit card company or bank immediately. Demand that they stop payment to that company. They may say that you need to contact CIC...don't settle for having to go it alone against these crooks, your bank makes the payments...they're responsible for guarding your account against fraudulent activities. I must say that I'm very impressed with Bank of America in regards to taking care of this right away. And if it all works out, let everyone else know what you did. Good luck.

More photos, more messages, more storage—get 2GB with Windows Live Hotmail.
From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 03-Jul-07 23:04:39 CDT Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
