WC Explore USA located in MN with 800-475-1942 phone number We started receiving charges on our Discover card from this company in July of 2006. It started with $1.00 twice in the same month. The next month it was $16.95 twice. After 6 months, we may have finally stopped them. Some, but not all, at Discover have been helpful. We are not certain that this fraud has ceased nor are we certain that Discover will credit our account. A Discover person at the Ohio zone office told me the charges must be paid by me because WC Explore had all of the correct numbers for my account and they could only have received these numbers from me. It seems that he doesn't know about fraud. A discover person in Utah recognized that perhaps this was a fraud and promised me that Discover would ask WC Explore for proof and that when proof was not supplied, my account would be credited. After all of this, I expected full credit, but instead, received this letter from Discover. Letter dated May 25 from Discover reads: Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding a charge from DKM Explore which posted to your Discover (R) Card Account. We have investigated your inquiry and have been unable to substantiate your claim. Accordingly, we consider the charge to be valid and it will remain on your Account. If you have something else in your record to support your position, please provide it to us as soon as possible. In addition, if you have not already done so, you may wish to contact the merchant directly. We regret any inconvenience this matter may have caused. if you have any questions, please call us at 1-800-347-2683. Experienced Account Managers are available to assist you 24 hours a day. Sincerely, Cardmember Service
It seems that the fraudulent merchant (WC Explore) doesn't have to provide proof that their claim is legitimate. Instead, I am being asked to provide proof that the charge is not legitimate. One person at Discover's Delaware office even asked me to provide the paperwork from the transaction. What transaction? I never even heard about this WC Explore company until they started charging my account. PS: A moment ago I called the 800 number for WC Explore and verified that "my membership has been cancelled". What membership? It seems that WC Explore will not be charging my account any more, but will Discover really credit my account for all of the the fraudulent charges? If you call to cancel, then you are canceled and will not be billed in the future. If you request a refund, then you will show the refund on one of your following 2 statements depending on when your account generates (most callers mistake the refund for another charge).
