Direct TV Complaint

Direct TV Complaint <html><div style='background-color:'><DIV class=RTE>For those of you thinking about converting to Direct TV from cable caveat emptor. I recently moved and decided to try to take advantage of my local phone companies service bundles (Bell South). The company was offering local phone service, unlimited long distance, DSL and a multi-room Direct TV package for $99 a month. It seemed like a great deal since I was paying $100 a month for cable tv and cable internet plus $70 for phone service. Plus to sweeten the pot you received $400+ in rebates and there was not introductory period on the package like there is with Comcast. </DIV> <DIV class=RTE> </DIV> <DIV class=RTE>An appointment was scheduled to install Direct TV. I took the day off of work to wait for the installer to come to the house (sometime between the hours of 1 pm and 5 pm.) The installer (Lamont) shows up and I show him the three rooms I want the service in. Then he starts trying to sell me an enhanced package and enhanced equipment from what I ordered. I told him that we were staying with the basic package that we ordered.</DIV> <DIV class=RTE> </DIV> <DIV class=RTE>So then he goes outside into the backyard. We have two small trees in our back yard that are about 30 inches in diameter. One is on our property the other is not. He proceeds to tell me that he refuses to install the satellite dish because "All I will get is service calls about the tree interference". His recommendation: cut down all of the trees. I said that I was not cutting down tree for the sake of Direct TV and then pointed out that my next door neighbor (less than 30 yards next to my house) has a Dish Network satellite dish on her roof and has four times as many trees in front of her dish than I would have. He then replied that her system was not active. How he could tell this from just looking is quite a remarkable feat. He should probably be in Vegas doing a mind reading act. Needless to say he did not know what he was talking about. Anyway, he basically says there are no other options leaving within 10 minutes of arriving at the house.</DIV> <DIV class=RTE> </DIV> <DIV class=RTE>I called the phone company (Bell South) who really tried to assit but since the Direct TV part of the service bundle is a contract they are limited. The Direct TV customer service to put it mildly was a complete joke. First you get someone that tells you that the installer is always right because they have gone through Direct TV training. Then they tell you that you have to have a supervisor come out an review the situation which takes 10-days. I spend roughly 1.5 hours on the phone with these bozos. I figure if it is this difficult just to get the service hooked up regular customer service must be a nightmare. I promptly switched back to Comcast since it is the devil I know.</DIV> <DIV class=RTE> </DIV> <DIV class=RTE>While it looks good on paper Direct TV is a dog due to their installers and their customer service. </DIV> <DIV class=RTE> </DIV> <DIV class=RTE>Rick Graham</DIV> <DIV class=RTE>Jacksonville, FL </DIV></div><br clear=all><hr> <a href="http://g.msn.com/8HMBENUS/2728??PS=47575" target="_top">Who's that on the Red Carpet?
