HH Greg sold me an LG Washer

HH Greg sold me an LG Washer

I purchased an "LG" brand wash and dryer from H.H.

Greg on 01/25/2006. While in the Kennesaw Georgia

store location, I indicated to the H.H. Greg sales

representative (Patrick Wallace) that the washer and

dryer will be installed and utilized on the second

floor of my home. The sales representative indicated

this would not present a problem. I proceeded to

purchase the washer and dryer, as well as a 5 year

extended warranty. The washer and dryer was delivered

and installed by an H.H. Greg installer, approximately

one week later. At the time of delivery and

installation, the H.H. Greg professionals carried the

washer and dryer to the 2nd floor of my home, and

proceeded to install them. However, when I inquired

about 2nd floor use, they also indicated that the "LG"

washer and dryer would not present a problem if used

on the 2nd floor in my home.

Normal use of my washer created a violent vibration of

the house. I called H.H. Greg to inform them of the

problem, and take advantage of my 5 year warranty,

that I purchased for several hundred dollars. They

proceeded to send out a certified repair man to

attempt to fix the vibration problem. He attempted to

balance the washer, but was unsuccessful. Since the

problem persisted, I re-contacted the H.H. Greg

service department and once again, a certified repair

man was dispatched to our location. This repair man

indicated that the "LG" washer and dryer are NOT rated

for 2nd floor use, and that H.H. Greg should have

provided me with this information prior to the time of

purchase, when I informed the original sales person

that the washer and dryer would be installed on the

2nd floor of my home. In addition, he indicated that

the professional H.H. Greg installers should have

known that the "LG" washer and dryer are not intended

for 2nd floor use, and should NOT have proceeded to

install the washer and dryer on my 2nd floor. After

conducting some additional research, I was able to

confirm that the washer and dryer, make and model, are

NOT rated for 2nd floor use. Competitors of H.H. Greg

require their customers to sign a waiver contract, if

they intend to use this washer and dryer on their 2nd

floor. However, I was never asked to sign such a

waiver at the time of purchase!

I proceeded to contact the retail store in Kennesaw

GA, where I originally purchased the washer and dryer.

I explained the issue and was informed that they could

not provide resolution, and that I should contact the

corporate H.H. Greg offices. I proceeded to contact

the H.H. Greg corporate office, and was told that no

resolution could be extended. I was also informed that

I should rebuild the 2nd floor of my home to provide

the proper support for my "LG" washer and dryer.

The vibration in my home has now increased and causing

pictures to fall off the walls. It also has caused

items on tables to fall to the floor and break. I fear

that if this issue continues, it will lead to

structural damage to the house, if this has not

already occurred. In a worst case situation, I fear

the house may give out and cause injury or death to

anyone within the residence. I feel the H.H. Greg

should take full responsibility by replacing the

washer and dryer with another model rated for 2nd

floor use, before the situation worsens!

I'm afraid we had a bad experience at HH Greg in Chattanooga, TN. We bought a 52" screen t.v. from Cashier #Q892 on 12/6/08 (Eric C. Myers). He told us that if we bought the t.v. tonight, he would throw in cleaner and cables. We purchased the t.v. that night, however, when we got our bill, we were charged for the cleaner & cables. We went back to the store and they denied telling us that even though we had my daughter and her husband who also witnessed the sale. So, you need to be careful with sales staff at H.H. Gregg. I'm afraid they'll say anything for a sale...
