Fight back Acclaim Financial [non]Services

Fight back Acclaim Financial [non]Services I, like many, have had a horrible experience with Acclaim in trying to get more information from a collections account reported by Arch Wireless.I could repeat my story, but sadly it is many of the same experiences other have (ie, being hung up on, called names, and attitude). Apparently, this is just the way they do business. It really makes me sick that Acclaim continues to run their business in such an unprofessional and unhelpful manner. I am not affiliated with any business, website, or anything else. I am a consumer that has experienced some of the many disgraceful ways this company treats consumers. I did my homework and have figured out a way to fight back. I did some research and have had it deleted off all 3 my (husband’s) big 3 (TransUnion, Experion, and Equifax) credit reports. I got a lot of info from this website (www.creditinfocenter.com) ref to credit repair. I too tried to contact Arch & was advised that they had purged their files and have no record of my husband having a contract (this is actually good news). I sent a validation request to Acclaim via certified mail, as well as disputed with the big 3. When you dispute with the big 3, they contact the collection agency or original creditor & they have to provide proof that you owe the debt. If they cant do that within 30-45 days (depending on what state your in) then the Big 3 delete it from your report forever! If the collection company cant validate (prove) that you owe the money, then they are supposed to delete it as well. The aforementioned website walks you step by step, provides examples and samples, and puts the law in layperson. So far, the Big 3 have deleted my Acclaim account. I have yet to hear a response from Acclaim ref validation. AND… once you request validation, the collection agency is not allowed to report it on your credit report. If they do, then it’s a $1000 fine for them, awardable to you in small claims court. You can actually sue for many, many reasons all covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, overseen by the Federal Trade Commission. Usually just the mention of these Acts and the FTC will do the job, because it shows that you are knowledgeable about the process. I share this information only as a public service. Again, I have no affiliations, do not receive any type of profit, nor have and financial interests in sharing this information, only the hope that many of you will fight back and not take the abuse anymore. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, however, the website has so much information, I doubt you will need to. Melissa C Fburg, VA
