I had a horrible experience with Sky Moving recently. We decided to move

from Gainesville, FL to Marietta, GA and theirs was the lowest quote I

received in the start and to which I fell for. Kim their representative

asked me on the phone to give 'complete' inventory. This was 6 days before

the moving date so I told her that we still need to pack upon which the

inventory in terms of boxes will be clear to us. She was very nice then and

said it would be absolutely fine and I can always give inventory 24 hours

before the actual move. Then she asked for my credit card and everything on

it including the security code. I should have been suspicious but I was not.

Anyway, I called her one day before the move and as per the inventory, from

the initial estimate of $1200.. the latest estimate went to $2250. I wanted

to cancel but I already paid off the deposit and didn't know better choice

since the time was running out. So decided to take the risk.

Next day 3 guys showed up with a rental truck from Enterprise without any

uniform etc. Without carefully noting the inventory started loading

everything on truck. We were surprised and started asking as why they are

not putting inventory numbers on each items. To pacify us, the driver Dan

did put the inventory stickers on most items which got loaded in front of

us. Then I noticed that he put a large roll of inventory stickers in his

pockets. Not sure why. I had made a careful inventory myself for my records

which saved me. Anyway as the truck started getting full (since they already

had someone's stuff in first half of the truck), he realized that our stuff

would not fit in. Thereby rejected 3 boxes full of books (also because they

were heavy) which were included in the original inventory. We could not load

some extra stuff which we thought we would pay them extra for. They also

loaded the washer and dryer on the back bars outside of the truck since

there was no space inside. Once everything loaded, he was adamant that I

sign the contracts and I had no choice.

By the time they left, we were praying that they would take our stuff

carefully.

4 days later in Marietta (distance 375 miles from Gainesville, FL), after

repeated phone calls, I was told that they would be dropping off the

shipment. I was eagerly waiting when they showed up late in the evening.

Told me that they got 50% of my stuff now.. and rest will be delivered

later. I was furious.. but had no choice. These guys didn't even check the

inventory. Extremely careless, rude and just left boxes in my garage.

Next day at 9 pm in the night another pair showed up to download the stuff.

Demanded money before even I see any of my stuff. No inventory list carried,

no bill of lading.. no documentation at all. It's good that I had my own

list. Careless handling of furniture. It was a nightmare ...

After everything is done, I have damaged king mattress, damaged washing

machine, damages to sofa and loveseat. I am missing 1 bin.. still I consider

myself fortunate for not missing any of my important documents.
