Future Shop Moncton N,B, my experience with a laptop

To Whom It may Concern:

 

 

I would like to tell you about my recent experience with Future Shop in Moncton N.B. My daughter who was going away brought her laptop computer which she had bought three years ago at Future Shop, to be looked at because it would not start up. It was brought in on Dec 15,2006 , she was told that there was no warranty on it, which she did not have a problem with, and told the customer service rep, that she just wanted to know exactly what was going on and didnt mind paying the 39.99 plus tax, for them to look at. She went away and after Christmas I phoned Future Shop to see what they found out, they told me to phone back, because the techician that was looking after it was not in and to phone back the next day. I phoned the nextday and still got the same answer, so finally the third day they informed me the mother board was gone, and they couldnt do anything about it. So on Dec 30, my husband and I went in and payed the 39.99 plus tax and took the machine home. At this point in time, my daughter is upset because this meant a new computer. Alot of stress on her since she is a university student and every dollar counts.

Anyways, my husband decided to let a friend of ours who is a carpenter and likes to dable in computer fixing took it home. The next day our friend calls and and informs us that the inside of the computer was dirty and the problem was the CMoss battery, not the motherboard. So he put in a five dollar battery, and like magic the computer works, actually I am typing this letter on it. So at this point in time we were pissed, we spent all that money to Future Shop and got no satifaction.

Today we got the computer back from our friend and I took it and the receipt back to Future Shop. I asked for the manager and talked to a very nice gentleman named Vincent, I

to him everything that went on with the computer. When I told him about the CMoss battery, he told me they dont check for that, and that when the battery goes it makes it look like the motherboard is gone. I also mentioned about how dirty the inside of the computer was and he told me they dont always clean inside. What I basically told him was that no one had even opened the machine, and a person who knows anything about a computer would check everything, so he actually agreed with me that no one even looked at it. I did get my money back, but what I had asked him was how many other people have they done this too, just think the motherboard is gone, so what do you need to buy but a new computer, and where else would you buy one but Future Shop!!!!

So the moral of this story is How Many Customers Have been Taken By Future Shop!!!
