Scholastic/Fisher Price Read with Me DVD Scholastic/Fisher Price Right before Christmas I purchased the Read with Me DVD for my 3 year old daughter. It came with one dvd in the package, however the store did not have any other of the dvd books. I assumed they were just out of them at the time and I could get them elsewhere. After Christmas I phoned around to some of the stores I thought would carry this product and none of them did. I spoke to someone at Fisher Price and they did a search and suggested buying them online at their store, or contact Scholastic. I was a little surprised so I went on the computer to see if I could buy them somewhere else online. The only places I could find them were Ebay.com, Fisher Price store online, and Scholastic. I live in Canada and all these options were US only. So to get any of the books for the system I had just purchased I would have to pay in US funds, plus shipping and Duty. I decided to write an email to Fisher price and Scholastic. I was unable to send it to Fisher Price as they have no option to email comments or complaints to them. (Which I confirmed with one of their customer service people on the phone-she told me I would have to send it by post!) Anyway, I sent an email to Scholastic explaining that I thought it was unethical for a company to continue selling a system when the books are no longer available. I also, said I felt they took advantage of me because now I have a system I cannot use…basically I flushed my money down the toilet!!! They did respond by asking me to send them my customer # and they would look into my DVD order!!! I don’t think they even read my email! I did not order a DVD from them, aside from my complaint I asked where I could get the DVD’s in Canada! I really feel it is unethical to allow the continued sale of their system when the DVD books are no longer available! I feel that I was scammed by the company into buying something at a good price with them knowing it would cost me a fortune to actually use the product! I am not only disappointed with this system, but also with the lame response from Scholastic! I too purchused the system for my daughter Christmas 2006 and found it very difficult to find the software/DVDs that go with the Read With Me system. My daughter LOVES this and I am very frustrated that they have discontinued the software. I think it was a good product and find it very unfortunate that we can not utilize it further.
