Verizon DSL Long Island NY


My son has Verizon DSL online for a year and half now. It has never worked properly. Everytime my son is online especially playing his XBOX 360 and an incoming calls comes in it knocks him off. Very frustrating for a kid who is playing a game such as Gears of War and is in the middle of a game and get knocks out. We have called Verizon repair a number of times with all the aggravation of trying to explain the problem and then getting someone to respond the problem still isn't fixed. They keep saying it was a crossed line on the pole, have been up there two or three times and still have not resolved the problem. They don't seem to understand the problem. I cannot explain it any simpler then I already have a number of times. Its not the connection in the house and Verizon even try to charge me for a repair visit inside the house which never even happened. So Simple....when a call comes into the house on the phone line it knocks the dsl connection out.....sounds like a cross on the line to me, but why can't they find it? They are supposed to be experienced professionals. I'm hoping to switch to a more reliable online service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND VERIZON DSL TO ANYONE!!! Nothing but problems and the tech support sucks. In the midst of trying to resolve the problem with Verizon the DSL line has been disconnected a number of times their error and then trying to get it reconnected is a nightmare. I had Verizon's DSL installed a little of two years ago. From the start I was getting only about half the 768kps speed. A tech person came to my house and checked my modem setup, no problem, my computer setup, no problem, the phone line from the house connection to the modem, no problem. They then checked the line from my house to the DSL substation and found the slowdown there. The technician went to the substation and said the problem was with the hardware at the substation and that half speed was all I could expect. Two years later and I'm still having the slow speed. Called tech support and asked if they knew if the hardware at the substation had been upgraded. They then went into the same script they did when I installed DSL two years ago. After convincing them that nothing had changed since the tech person had visited me two years ago the tech support person had me give him remote control of my computer with which he proceeded to disable ALL the microsoft services. I questioned him on this as it seemed to me that this would introduce more problems. He them asked me to resatart my computer which of course resulted in my computer being lobotimized. I undid his changes, rebooted my computer and called it a day. Verizon Tech Support can help you setup your inital DSL connection after that you're pretty much on your own.
