General Motors Master Card
|
General Motors Master Card I am not happy with how GM Master card has handled my account. Have been with them for years and have always paid on time. Recently made a relatively costly purchase of some items from large home improvement warehouse. Store was in local area. Next day went to use the card to make gas purchase and cashier held the card and said that she needed to call the credit card company. She also said that in 9 out 10 cases the credit card company will ask them to cut the card up on the spot. Used another card to complete the purchase. When I got home, I called GM MasterCard and was told that this was for the purpose of 'account verification' especially since I made a large purchase the day before. They also had noted (when?) that my work number wasn't correct. I explained that I had just changed buildings and hadn't had a chance to notify all about new number. A simple call from them to my house would have cleared all these loose ends up. To me this smacks of harassment and a touch of paranoia/suspiciousness on GM MasterCard's part. There is no reason for me to have been humiliated like this. Appreciate their concern say if I had made a big purchase one day out-of-state/overseas and the next day in my hometown. A simple call from them to my house would have cleared all this up. I just don't like the way they do business and I wrote and told them so along with the cutup cards. Also let the President of General Motors know that I was not happy with how GM MasterCard treats it's customers. Guess that it will be a Ford or Chrysler for me next time !! J. But here it the worst: I had about $3500 earned credit with them for a new car. When I went to buy my new GM car and the dealer called GM card, they tried to wiggle out of it! First they said they couldn't find my account, and then they tried to say it was no longer valid, then, finally they agreed to let me use my credit but only $1000 worth! I was furious! The GM CARD IS A HUGE RIP OFF. DON'T USE IT, DON'T GET ONE. I closed my account with them forever!
