AOL - cancellation

AOL - cancellation AOL - I tried to cancel my AOL account in July 2003. In July 2003, I was moving the next month and decided to go with another internet carrier. I called AOL to cancel. While on the phone, the person offered me a free 3 month trial of AOL. If I wanted to keep AOL after those 3 months, I would have to do nothing, however if I wanted to cancel, I would have to send an email stating my wishes. I said no, that I was moving and that I would be using another carrier. She persisted, finally I began to get stern and flat out said "NO, I WANT TO CANCEL". So, I went through the whole cancellation spiel and even had to speak with a supervisor to confirm my cancellation (which was "all being recorded for security reasons"). Anyway, I moved in August and had the other carrier installed in September. I do most everything on-line, so I look at my bank statement seldomly. I did notice, however, that AOL was still taking payment automatically out of my bank account. AGAIN, I called and cancelled. And again I went through the whole recorded call with the rep and her supervisor ( to confirm my cancellation). So this is twice now that I've not only cancelled this account, but confirmed it with a supervisor as well. On top of that, this was all recorded. So now it's November 2006, I had some bank account issues and I look at my statement. WHAT!!!!! AOL charge. I continue to look at previous statements, sure enough...AOL charge. I went back almost a year noticing that AOL had been charging me every month, and decided that I didn't want to dig back anymore... it was making me sick. How can these people get away with this. Over three years they've been charging me for an account that I cancelled twice. When I called them, AGAIN, they stated that there was no record of me cancelling my account. So of course I cancelled yet again. The way I see it, they stole over $500 from me. What am I supposed to do? Let them keep it? How am I going to get that back? bc From: Message Author (click here to email author)Date: Tuesday, 23-Jan-07 09:50:26 CST Business: Reply Online Consumer: Comment On This |
