WHIRLPOOL DISHWASHER PROBLEM I PURCHASED A WHIRLPOOL DISHWASHER ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO NOW AND BACK IN NOVEMBER IT STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED WHIRLPOOL AND WAS DIRECTED TO THEIR SERVICE COMPANY IN THE AREA, PREWAY APPLIANCE. THEY SENT A MAN OUT (FEE WHETHER FIXED OR NOT FOR COMING TO CHECK APPLIANCE WAS $79.95 plus tax) AND THEY LATER ADVISED THAT THE MOTOR AND PUMP WERE BURNED OUT AND WOULD COST OVER $400.00 TO REPAIR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AS THIS APPLIANCE IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD, SO I CONTACTED WHIRLPOOL AGAIN TO DISCUSS THEM COVERING THIS REPAIR. I WAS ADVISED BY JULIE AT CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THE CUSTOMER MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AT SOME POINT, THAT IT WAS MY OPTION NOT TO PURCHASE AN EXTENDED COVERAGE WARRANTY AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR OR ANY COSTS ASSOCATED WITH IT. I REPLACED A WORKING DISHWASHER (CALORIC OVER 10 YEARS OLD) WITH THIS DISHWASHER BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH A BROKEN APPLIANCEE AND NOW HERE I AM. UNFORTUNATELY, I ALREADY DISPOSED OF THE OLDER ONE. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS REASONABLE ON WHIRLPOOLS PART, AS A DISHWASHER HAS AN HISTORIC EXPECTED LIFE OF AT LEAST 10 YEARS. IF A PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE, THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT I AM A SINGLE WOMAN, LIVING ALONE AND THAT THIS APPLIANCE HAS ONLY BEEN USED ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK, WHICH MAKES THEIR REFUSAL TO DO ANYTHING EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS.
