Gift Receipt Fraud!

My mother bought me a jacket at Charlotte Russe for Christmas. It didn't fit and when I went to exchange it, they didn't have another one like it. I had a gift receipt, so they said that they would give me the amount that my mother paid in the form of a gift card. They told me that she had gotten the jacket on sale and assured me that they were giving me the correct amount.

I called my mother and she told me that she didn't believe the jacket was on sale when she bought it, they insisted that it was, so I took the credit for the amount they claimed and left.

My mother did end up finding her original receipt and sure enough, she paid 30 percent more than they gave me credit for. I did not use the gift card that they gave me, so I still have that along with my receipt that they had given me for the returned jacket. My mother is mailing me the original receipt.

I sent an email to customer service at Charlotte Russe five days ago and have yet to receive any kind of response from them.

I would like as many people as possible to know that just because you have a gift receipt, don't believe that you are protected. I can't help but wonder how many people have been ripped off in this manner because they trusted the gift receipt amount that they were told by the store.
