Hartford Insurance, [do not list e-mail address] Hartford Insurance ; My name is Wayne. I was involved in a traffic accident with Andrew on 9-19-06 at 31 St. & LaGrange Rd. Andrew was talking on the telephone at a red light. He decided to go straight on the green left turn arrow. I was directly in front of Andrew at the time. Andrew drove into the back of my pick up truck while talking on the telephone. I exited my truck to assess the damage, while Andrew was still on the phone. I had to ask him to hang up so we may exchange our information. I contacted Hartford insurance company to seek repair to my vehicle. They gave me three body shops to visit. I went to each shop for an estimate. Each shop stated my truck was too long for their spray booth. I contacted Sara at Hartford Insurance Company. Sara instructed me to find a shop that would handle my truck. I visited several shops before I secured an “estimate” from Technicraft, for $1000. Upon faxing this to Sara, they decided to only pay $679.16. I informed Sara this was not what I wanted. Sara informed me my vehicle was too old for new parts. I faxed Sara proof that I installed the bumper, etc. just two years ago. Nearly two months passed before Sara told me there is nothing more she can do as far as more money but they would pay for my car rental. Upon my return to Technicraft, they informed me that the lady who wrote the “estimate”, was wrong in her calculations. They then gave me an estimate for over $1700. I was furious with this development. I went to several more body shops with the same results. I called Sara to inform her of this “estimate error”. Sara told me there is NOTHING more she can do! I was on my own. I would also have to pay for ALL of the car rental bill. My next call was to Andrew to ask for the remaining portion of the bill. Andrew agreed to pay the difference when the estimate was at $1,000, but when I explained the estimate error, he refused to reimburse any money. Since I was scheduled for shoulder replacement surgery and I needed the truck repaired prior to surgery, I had the truck repaired at my expense at CollisionCraft. Now I bring all this to your attention because I paid out of my pocket the following; CollisionCraft---------------- $1698.70
Enterprise car Rental ------ $ 679.16 Total ---------------------------$ 2051.20 Hartford paid----------------- $ 679.16 Balance Due -----------------$ 1372.04 Is there anything you can do for me at this time to help defray this cost from my pocket?
