Direct TV has a poor customer service department and they are unwilling to assist you when they make a billing error. Direct TV confused my account with my father-in-laws account and accused me of using his bank information to pay my account. This is not the only thing they have changed in error with the accounts. His billing address shows up as my address and his contact number is listed as mine. They used my father-in-laws bank account (unauthorized) on my online screen. I tried to resolve this issue through several e-mails and phone calls each time getting nothing. What I did get was a representative telling me that I must have obtained my father-in-laws bank account information and fraudulently used it to pay my Direct TV bill. I asked the representative why I was not notified when my father-in-law caught their error on his account? Direct TV's representee said that my bill was my notice? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Direct TV added $500 plus back on my account and labels the account as fraud without so much as an explanation? My father-in-law instructed me to not pay any of my bill until they settled this and sent a letter showing me and him when I supposedly entered his bank account online. Direct TV responded by saying they have no record of how and when the account information was changed and then proceeded to give me the bank account change date of July 10, 2006, at 10:30 am. I told Direct TV that I will more than gladly pay the entire balance if they can send me written proof that I have done this online. They said they do not have and will not send any such documents. Meanwhile they are sending my account to collection and they will no longer take my calls and assist me with their mistake! I have all my correspondences on file and have printed my online account information out where they do not have the correct billing address, bank account and phone number. My father-in-law is willing to share any documents and make any statements needed to settle this mess. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, Attorney Generals office and the FTC. I will continue to tell everyone I come in contact with to not conduct business with Direct TV. Bottom line is don't pay your bills online if you have Direct TV because they can and will use another customers bank account to pay your bill and then leave you holding the bag for their mistake.
