DIRECTV accounting and customer service Cancelled service from DIRECTV after multiple billing errors and poor customer service, Incurred $168 cancellation fee even after being told by reps I would not be charged. As a customer of DIRECTV for the past five years with an average bill of $130+, I have had numerous billing errors on my statement, of course, never in my favor. What has typically happened is DIRECTV offers a promotional rate with new equipment, etc; for example $20 off for 6 months. But on the bill they only apply it for one month. This happens with every promotion I was offered from them. Each time there is a problem it usually takes a 45 minute phone call (usually with an overseas call center) with a promise it will be solved only to have it happen again. I am not exaggerating, after being promised that the problem is fixed and the credit will be applied on future bills, the next two bills come with no credit and another 45 minute phone conversation. After three straight phone calls on the latest promotion I asked there customer retention department what I would be charged if I cancelled, after a short delay I was told my commitment was up and you can cancel at any time with no charge. So I signed up for Dish network and called a week later to cancel. I was told again I would not be charged, that my commitment was up and the equipment is yours. Sure enough my next bill comes with a $168.00 cancellation fee and after another phone call I was told my commitment is not up and it doesn't matter what our customer reps told you. I am a easy going 35 year old that actually owns DIRECTV stock (to be sold) and never found it necessary to file a complaint on anyone before. It amazes me that businesses with such horrible customer relations are still awarded with customers willing to buy. I urge anyone looking for a cable satellite provider to look elsewhere.
