Providian / Washington Mutual

Providian / Washington Mutual I have had a providian issued credit card for nearly 6 years. They just switched over to Washington Mutual. I have never missed a payment, I have never been late, and I have always, always paid more than the minimum amount due. In Nov 2006, their website was acting up a couple days before my payment was due that month. Throughout the day I could not log in to make my payment. Right about the time I was getting ready to call them, the website let me log in. I made my payment, it had a confirmation number, (of course I didnt write it down, why would I need to, right? never had a problem before...) 3 weeks later I get a phone call from them saying they never got my payment. I explained the situation to them. They waved the late fee, accepted my payment (plus some more) and told me my account, credit history, etc would not be adversly affected. 2 months later, Janurary 2007, I see on my statement that my APR had gone up about 6%. To say the least, I was angry. I called them and explained my situation, they would not help me, I talked to a suprvisor, she said without the confirmation number, she couldn't do anything at all. And blamed me for the late payment. I argued with her nearly 10 minutes and she wouldnt budge. I told her I would be dropping my account (after 6 years.....) and she said thats my choice. To add insult to injury, the entire time their phone system sounded like they had 100 callers on a dialup VOIP system. It was almost impossible to talk to them, and hear their menu system.
