H & R Block / offers a $25 to use towards screwing up my taxes next year

H & R Block: Money Back Guaranteed that really isn’t guaranteed

I was told I would get XXX amount of money by the next day through they’re

Rapid Refund program. However, the next day I was told that I would not get

the full return and I was not offered a discount in the fees. I was than

told the funds would be given to me in a form of a check because the small

limit of funds could not be to be put on the prepaid H & R Block card. Based

on H & R block Representative’s guarantee of funds, I made a financial

commitment that I was not able to keep because of they’re mistake or

miscommunication or lack of information. I was than told by Pat the branch

Manager that I would receive both my federal (through direct deposit) and

state taxes on the first of February. This was the 2nd week of January.

In reference to they’re mistake in not receiving the remaining amount of my

taxes, the H & R Block Manager said “that happens sometimes”. I explained to

the H & R Block Manager that if “that happens sometimes”, than H & R Block

Representatives should not make promises, guarantees or statements that

mislead they’re customers into believe that the funds will indeed be

available when in fact they have no definite confirmation that funds will

indeed be available. The Manager refused to refund the money for services

regardless of the guarantee I was told both before and after the preparation

of my taxes.

I told Pat the branch manager I did not want a paper check for my return. A

paper check is troublesome and not always easily deposited into a checking

account. However, I was told again, the funds can not be transfered onto the

H & R Block prepaid card because the amount was less than $500. Which is bs

because my first portion of the Rapid Loan was under $500

The funds I was told would be available on the first were not. I called on

Sunday February 4th and was told the remaining federal funds were deposit on

the prepaid H & R Block card!

Again: I was told on the day after my taxes were done that I would receive

the remaining balance in a form of a check because the small limit of funds

could not be to be put on the prepaid H & R Block card and than told they

were put there?

I already threw away the card since I had pulled all funds from it and now

trying to get a replacement which will take anther week to two weeks! Pat

the H & R Block manager is not in today and no one else in the office knows

about my case. I asked a Representative to have the District manager call me

and he said he already did. I asked him to do it again and he said that he’s

already done that and she’ll probably call me sometime soon. I asked for her

to call me two weeks ago. I than demanded that the district manager call me

and I said I wanted a refund of my money.

The rep told me I should wait for the manager to return the next day. I said

I want to bypass her and go straight to the source since Pat has declined to

refund my money back for bad service and a lack of service and information.

Forthe last two years I used a different tax return service and received

my“advanced loan” without any problems. Prior to that I used H & R Block for

two previous years and both years I had numerous problems with my returns.

However, I didn’t believe that H & R Block could mess up AGAIN, I was wrong!

Nothing has worked, so now I'm taking this to the web and to blogs such as

For the last four days I have been trying to get my Federal refund from H &

R Block. This week I’ve been told that the funds that couldn’t be placed on

the H & R Block prepaid card have been put there. In addition, the card

number has been hacked and used and chances are I will not get those funds

back.

Why? Because they would have to have my pin. However the purchase was made

in the state of Texas and I’m in California with plenty of witnesses who can

vouch for my California presence for the last four weeks. So apparently it

is very possible for someone to hack and use a H & R Block prepaid card.

After several more calls

Carmen Mendez from the Southern California / North Hollywood District office

called and offered me a lousy $25 certificate to use towards screwing up my

taxes next year!

WTF!? I told her this was totally unacceptable considering that they still

can not offer me my refund, they have no idea when my state refund will be

issued (after they told me it would definitely be on the first of February)

and they still haven’t called to replace the H & R Block prepaid card and

refund my stolen money!

Than she had the nerve to tell me I wasn’t giving her much to work with? The

gall of these people!

Now she says she’ll call me back….
