Door Store Furniture Complaint

Door Store Furniture Complaint

Door Store Furniture, New York, NY. Complaint to warn other consumers about

buying defective furniture at the Door Store and about the horrendous

customer service.

I am absolutely flabbergasted in my dealings with the Door Store. I

purchased approximately seven thousand dollars worth of furniture from the

them on September 4th, 2006. I was promised that it would be delivered no

later than the beginning of November. I received a postcard on October 10th,

2006 stating that the delivery of the king size bed would be delayed until

approximately mid January. In the meantime—fully expecting that I would

receive all of the pieces by November at the latest—I had sold all of my old

furniture, including my bed. I would have never purchased the items had I

known that I would have to sleep on the floor for two months. I called the

manager of the store and he promised to deliver a boxspring loner.

The first delivery came. The promised boxspring, however, was not in the

shipment. When I called customer service to ask where it was, they told me

that they didn’t have any king size boxsprings in stock and when I spoke to

the manager again he blatantly denied having made the promise. In order to

prevent sleeping on the floor for an indeterminate period of time I had no

choice but to switch the king size bed which was out of stock to a queen

size bed which was in stock. I had to also change the order with the company

from which I bought my mattress from a king size mattress to a queen size

mattress.

But it didn’t stop there. The pillows and cushions of the sectional were

mismatched. A leg of the table was scratched and some time later the other

legs developed bubbles in the leather. One of the chairs was chipped and the

upholstery on all of the chairs was loose and uneven. The Serenity Temple

Wood statue was broken is several places. The leather of one of the corner

sectional pieces was ripped and an ottoman was dented on one side. When the

bed finally came the frame and the mattress platform were misaligned and

consequently defective. In total it took three more redeliveries to exchange

the damaged and mismatched items. The replaced pieces, however, were still

defective. During this time I had to take days off from work to receive the

items. On one such occasion the Door Store cancelled the redelivery

altogether.

At the end of the day I wound up spending seven thousand dollars on

furniture which—five deliveries and over three months later—is still

defective. I lost five days of pay while sitting at home and waiting for the

shipments. In addition, I spent an exorbitant amount of time dealing with

incompetent and inconsiderate representatives as well as sales people who

were operating under false pretenses. I could in no way have foreseen myself

experiencing so much stress over the course of three months. I have found

that the Door Store practices false advertising and sells damaged furniture

to customers without qualms. Their customer service department and even

their drivers are aware of this fact and are unwilling to do anything about

it. Unless you want to buy damaged items, I would not recommend that anyone

purchase anything in this store.

I have been ordering from Door Store for at least 25 years and have had only the most courteous and professional service. My merchandise always arrives on time or earlier and the quality is unbeleivable for the awesome price! I just finished furnishing my daughter's home last month and again, another wonderful experience. I HIGHLY recommend this store. You can't go wrong!!!
