Certegy Check Services

I started getting phone calls from Certegy about 6 months ago. They said I owed for a check I wrote to Blockbuster some time ago that wasn't good.

I told them I never wrote any checks to Blockbuster ever. I hardly ever go to Blockbuster and hardly write a check to anybody. I use credit or debit cards. I usually do not even carry a check book - not for several years. They kept insisting I did. I told them I wasn't paying for something I didn't owe, even though it was only $10.69.

They kept sending me letters and calling me. Finally I called my local Blockbuster and asked them if I owed them anything. They said no. I asked them to notify this Certegy. I kept to get calls and letters more and more threatening.

Finally one day I heard a Certegy rep state the name of a bank from another state. I had never lived in that state and had never heard of that bank. I told her I never lived in that state or had an account in such a bank. She didn't believe me.

This continued................Finally one day I talked to a Certegy rep and told them again that I never had an account with that bank. They seemed amazed and said it must be fraud. I said they better get it off my credit record and quit bothering me. This had taken months and months and I had wasted hours and hours over this. I am 67 years old and have high blood pressure plus major depression. I don't need all this.

Now I have to fill out a form they mailed me and give them my Social Security number, a copy of my drivers license, a bunch of info and have it all notorized!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to buy a stamp to return it to them. I am even worried they might use my info for further scams. I will ask my bank tomorrow if I should send it to them. How can they put me through all this? I didn't have anything to do with it.

I have not had any other problems. It seems if someone used my identity they would have spent more than $10.69. I think Certegy just made an error and caused me all this trouble. It should be illegal.
