In SEP 2005, I made a single purchase (under $50) on my newly acquired Sears Master Card, and paid the balance in full upon receipt. Sears charged me late fees and continued to do so for over a year, inspite of their notices being returned by the Post Office-- they had failed to designate my apartment no. in their system. After multiple calls, I finally reached a supervisor with authority in SEP 2006, and she dismissed any outstanding balance. Apparently not long after, Citi Group took over Sears' credit card operations, and they, in turn, turned over my account, with the uncorrected balance, over to a collections agency. I'm now getting notices from the collection agency and ongoing late fees.
