HEALTH TREAINER TREADMILL BY KEYS FITNESS

In January 2005, I purchased a Health Trainer Treadmill made by Keys Fitness Model HT85. The purchase was made from Play It Again Sports Outer Loop store in Louisville, KY. I was told that the treadmill was sufficient for weight up to 300 lbs. The treadmill was delivered and setup by the store. I started using it immediately but after only 10 days the treadmill would totally stop on its own while I was walking on it.

I called the store and they came out and took a look at it and ordered a controller for it but it continued to stop in the middle of a workout. The store had Keys Fitness replace the treadmill with another HT85. This one has worked fairly well until last November. Every time my 230 lbs. husband got on the treadmill it would start to smell as if something was burning. I called the store and they said they would come out and take a look. The service man said that the motor has slipped away from the belt. He tightened up the belt and said that should take care of it. It didn't. Two days later my husband was back on it and it started smelling like it was burning again. It finally stopped working all together. That was two weeks ago and I have yet to get any satisfaction on the repair.

The service tech from the store ordered a new motor and controller which is still under warranty with Keys (two year parts and 10 year motor). Keys sent the wrong motor. The tech called Keys on Friday(2-2-07) and left a message to send out the correct new motor overnight. The staff at Keys as of 1:00 p.m. today still had not returned the Tech's call.

I will never purchase another from product from Keys Fitness or Health Trainer. I spent $800.00 for this treadmill and do not feel that I made a very good investment. Treadmills are supposed to last longer than 23 mos.

My complaint is that Keys Fitness does not support their products and they do not care if owners of their treadmills have any service or support. I urge anyone who may read this complaint to not do business with this company.

Keys Fitness is mostly at fault in this problem. The store Play It Again sports said I had done regular routine maintenance on the treadmill as it should have been. The store tech seems to be trying his best but has very little cooperation from Keys, their products and their support are really shoddy.
