After my husband changed jobs which left us without health insurance, my son who is in college went to his local CVS Pharmacy in Waltham, MA to refill his prescription for Zertec. He was told it would be $273.00 for 30 pills ( 1 month supply). He told them no way and called me. I called his allergist and asked if there was a generic available. His allergist said their is no generic and that CVS Pharmacies are known to be the most expensive pharmacy in the US. I was told that Sam's club sold it for $69.00. She also told me to check pharmacies in Canada. I did so and traveled 2 hours to Canada. I had my choice of Reactine-Canada's actual brand of Zertec for $20.99 or the generic brand Cetirizine for $16.99. Also, no tax. In Canada, it is sold over the counter no prescription necessary. This is the same for all meds. Your doctor can call the prescription in to a pharmacy in Canada. If you can't travel to Canada, call them, they will mail it to you. St. Stephen Guardian 506-466-4447. Check the web, there are many pharmacies. I wish there was a way to get this info posted to everyone. How many people are buying needed prescriptions and going without food or heat because they are being riped off giving their money to places like CVS who do not care about the consumer.
