US Airways Complaint

US Airways Complaint Please read the attached complaint that I filed today against US Airways. Based on what I have read on your website, I don't expect to receive any compensation. I will never fly with US Airways again!! My wife Linda and I departed Portland, Maine, on Saturday, February 17th, on flight 3175 to Philadelphia. We were told by the US Airways representative in Portland that we would have to retrieve our luggage in Philadelphia since we were not departing for Montego Bay until Sunday, the 18th. Upon our arrival in Philadelphia, we proceeded to the baggage claim and waited for over an hour for our luggage which never appeared. We filed a complaint with the US Airways representative prior to departing for a local hotel. We called the number at the Philadelphia baggage collection point prior to 11:00 pm but there was no answer. Upon our arrival Sunday morning, our baggage was still missing and after talking to Judy, we departed on our flight #921 to Montego Bay. Our luggage did not arrive until Wednesday, February 21st, at 12:45 am in the morning, after half of our vacation was completed. Prior to our baggage arriving, we spent $290.00 on toiletries, clothes, and shoes at the hotel’s gift shop. The prices were extremely steep but we did not have a choice thanks to the inept baggage handlers at US Airways. The $25.00 per day per person that your policy allocates for purchases of items for those whose baggage has been misplaced is inadequate and not enough to purchase clothing and footwear replacements. We had to wear the same clothes for three days until we realized we may never see our luggage again and also had to wash our underwear in the sink. I still have scabs on my feet from the sandals I purchased in the gift shop that I normally do not wear. In addition, we were charged a $50.00 excessive weight fee for one of our bags upon our return to Philadelphia due to all of the extra clothes and sundries we had to purchase. We did receive a call from Judy on the 19th at 6:49 am stating that she located our luggage and sent it to the local Holiday where we stayed on the night of the 17th. Why our luggage was sent to a hotel where we were no longer staying boggles my mind. Due to US Airways failing to properly deliver our luggage on time, our trip was ruined and I am asking that you refund the price I paid for the trip, $2364.80, which I booked through Orbitz, in addition to the $290.00 I had to pay for clothing and hygiene products and the $50.00 we had to pay for the excessive weight fee. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding the resolving of this issue.
