Sofa u Love-- Several locations throughout Los Angeles, Ca.

 

I bought a sofa and 2 chairs from the Sofa u Love on Western in Los Angeles in Sept. of 2004. A few weeks later they said that the fabric I chose had not come in and substituted the cheapest cover for the sofa saying they would have the cover in soon. They delivered the sofas this way and told me to pay the balance in cash to the driver. A few weeks later the covers did not arrive and I kept calling to see where they were. They said it would take a few more weeks. Well after a few more weeks, the sales woman, Marina told me her brother had dies and to give her a few more weeks. Already many months had passed. I finally got a hold of her and she said they no longer made this fabric and that I should pick another one. I went to the shop several times but did not find anything I liked as much. I finally settled on a fabric, although I wasn't thrilled by it. I would call periodically to find out where the covers were and they would give me some story about how they ordered it and it takes time to get here. I waited and waited and they said someone goofed and didn't make the order or the wrong fabric came or it was sent to the wrong place. By now over a year had passed. They finally said they got the fabric and they were going to make the covers and told me they wanted the balance of the payment. I told them that I had already given the driver the balance in cash(which is their policy). They said they would look up the invoice. No one called me and I kept calling to find out where the invoice was. They finally told me they had to call their accountant. That went on for several months. They said their accountant had someone in the family pass away and they needed more time. I finally went to my bank and got the check that I cashed from my account to pay the driver. Although it was a cash check, I had written in the memo part Sofa u Love. Furthermore, it was the exact dollar amount of the balance. I faxed this to them several times because they always said they didn't get it. finally they said their accountant had lost the invoice, but they were going to sent the covers anyway. Of course, now they claimed they didn't have the covers and the fabric hadn't been ordered. Again they went through telling me that they were ordering it, that it was on its way,etc. By now it had been two years. I kept calling and calling and they kept saying they lost the covers, that they would look for them, etc. Finally, I called and they said they would be delivering the sofa covers on Saturday. I waited all day and no one came or called. When I called to see what happened they said it wasn't even on the schedule. They did this to me twice, without even bothering to call me. When I called the second time to see what happened they said they were looking for the invoice. I couldn't believe that they were starting this again after 2 1/2 years of having taken my money and put me through hell to get these overpriced sofa covers that I had to settle for! The people I talked to at the Burbank factory store were Vincent, Vic, and Johnny. These people have no scruples and run their business in an extremely half assed way. Every single one of them, Marina and the others I just mentioned, never bothered to return any of my phone calls. I must have made over 150 calls to them trying to get my covers. At the end they refused to send the sofa covers. Please, do not shop at any of the Sofa U Love stores because they will take your money and not deliver and put you through hell the whole time!
