Simmons BeautyRest Mattress

Once at the mattress store, the salesperson asked me some preliminary questions about my sleeping habits, and based on my answers, pointed out about 5 or 6 that would best suit me. That spared me the confusion of comparing 20 or 30 which would have been very difficult to do. I took my time because on my budget, this is an expensive item and I wanted to be sure to get the right one. I tried out each of the recommended mattress, finally settling on the most comfortable one which turned out to be a Simmons BeautyRest with a pillow top. I’d never had a pillow top before and was looking forward to the dreamy comfort. It was full sized and almost $2000. They explained it was being made for me and would be delivered in 2 weeks. When it arrived, it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. So far, this sounds like a nice story, huh? The first night, I was able to sleep only about 3 hours before my back and hip pains were so bad that I had to get up and sleep in a recliner the rest of the night. I could not believe how stiff I was. I remembered someone saying that you needed to break in a new mattress so I tried not to be too concerned, but deep down inside I was beginning to feel sick. The next and subsequent nights were the same. I’d toss and turn after about 3 hours because the pain would wake me up. When I tried to roll out of the bed, it would be tricky because it felt like I was resting in a ditch. I’d move to a different spot on the mattress, even sleeping crosswise! I reviewed the warranty and learned that for a 20% restocking fee, I could return the mattress after several weeks (the trial period). That would mean that I’d have a lot less money to spend on the next mattress! But here was my fear: What if I again selected the wrong mattress? I’d have to sleep on one for 3-4 hours to find out if I’d have pain with a different model or bran. Fast forward to today: My mattress is still pretty, but only my pets sleep on it. I sleep in the recliner. Don’t buy one of these. What hundreds of posters have written is true. This mattress will give you a permanent backache. And you will feel like you are sleeping in a hole.
